Footsteps in the Forest - The National Forest Walking Festival

May 2008 saw the first ever National Forest Walking Festival. This featured a fantastic range of walks across The National Forest's wonderful countryside and historic towns and villages. Many of the walks gave the chance to learn more about the rich and varied history, its wildlife and geology, or even its myths and legends! There were 37 walks over the 10 days ranging from just 0.5 mile to 12 miles - something for almost all walkers whatever their interests and abilities. The National Forest

The National Forest is Britain's boldest environmental project, creating a new forest for the nation across 200 square miles and embracing parts of South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire and North West Leicestershire.
